My Story
I am a nature lover at heart, and after studying mechanical engineering I discovered my passion was in sustainability. I pursued a graduate certificate in Sustainable Design from Boston Architectural College, and then became an Accredited Professional for LEED BD+C (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design: Building Design + Construction). I once saw a quote on Jack Johnson's website that has always inspired me, which read: "An individual action, multiplied by millions, creates global change." Our small actions can make a difference, and this quote empowers us all to keep taking steps toward a more sustainable life.
I have been an independent consultant since 2016, and want to shine a light on the positive actions and habits we can build into our lives around sustainability, wellness, and lifestyle choices. My self-employment journey also led me to helping others who seek to launch their own online business. I'm a big believer that what we do for work has a big impact on our overall well-being.
The reason I left traditional employment had to do with my own health journey. Leading up to that point my health had declined due to a number of reasons, which I share in my blog. I needed time to continue my healing journey on my own schedule. Since that time, I have sought out holistic methods to health and wellness. My experience led me to becoming a WELL Accredited Professional for the WELL Building Standard, which prioritizes human health and wellness in building design and function.
My past work has revolved around sustainability strategies, energy efficiency, healthy indoor environments, HVAC design, and building products. I also worked with my husband in his landscape design and construction business and love to spend time in any garden. In my yard I have focused on supporting ecosystems, native plantings, and growing food at a small scale. We've gone through a lot of troubleshooting at our past and present home to make sure they were healthy and energy-efficient spaces. It is quite satisfying to restore land and structures back to good health, which ultimately supports our well-being and those who live there in the future.
We can create healthy spaces, both indoors and out. Many concepts I have learned over the years can be applied right at home, the workplace, and public spaces. I invite you to check out the resources I share here on this site and on my social media pages, linked below. I look forward to connecting with you there!
